Iki Privacy Policy

Last Updated: November 26, 2025 Effective: November 26, 2025

Iki ("we," "our," or "the App") is a daily mindfulness app that delivers curated quotes, breathing guidance, journaling, and reminders on iPhone and widgets. We prioritize data minimization and transparency. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully before using Iki.

1. Scope

This policy applies to Iki on iPhone, iPad, and widgets, as well as any help pages or communications you reach through the App. It does not apply to third-party websites or services you may open from Iki.

2. Personal information we collect

We only collect what is needed to provide the features you choose:

  • Information you provide: nickname for greetings, saved or favorited quotes, custom quote packs, breathing and mindfulness logs, moods and journal entries, reminder schedules, widgets and theme selections, optional voice settings, and any text or screenshots you send through in-app support or email.
  • Subscription and purchase data: Apple provides anonymized transaction IDs, product IDs, and subscription status to confirm purchases and manage entitlements. We never see your payment card details.
  • Device and app data: device model, OS version, language and region, time zone, app version, and basic diagnostics to troubleshoot crashes or failed notifications. Apple may share anonymized crash logs if you have system sharing enabled.
  • Notifications and widgets: your notification preferences, reminder windows, and widget configuration. We use Apple Push Notification service (APNs) and local notifications; we do not store device tokens in a way that identifies you.
  • Cloud and sync: if you enable iCloud/CloudKit sync, your content (such as favorites or journals when supported) is stored in your iCloud account under Apple's safeguards. We do not receive your Apple ID, email address, or real name.

We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, health data, or microphone recordings.

3. How we use your information

  • Deliver core features: quotes, reminders, widgets, breathing guidance, journaling, and personalization on your device.
  • Sync and backup: if enabled, store your data in iCloud/CloudKit for multi-device access and recovery.
  • Improve reliability and safety: diagnose crashes, notification delivery issues, and prevent abuse or spam.
  • Purchases and support: verify subscriptions via StoreKit, handle receipts, and respond to support requests.
  • Compliance: meet tax, accounting, and regulatory requirements for transactions.

We do not sell your data or use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

4. Sharing and disclosure

We share data only in these situations:

  • Apple services: CloudKit/iCloud for sync and content updates, StoreKit for billing, APNs for notifications, WidgetKit/Siri for system integrations. Apple processes this data under its own privacy terms.
  • Service providers: limited to infrastructure or customer support tools we use to respond to you, bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations.
  • Legal requirements: when required by law, regulation, or valid legal process, with prior notice when legally permitted.

There is no sale of personal information and no cross-app tracking.

5. Storage, location, and retention

  • On-device first: most data (quotes you save, moods, journals, reminders, settings) lives locally in SwiftData and is protected by iOS Data Protection.
  • iCloud/CloudKit: if you turn on sync, content is transmitted over TLS and stored encrypted on Apple servers. You can disable sync at any time in system settings.
  • Content updates: quote packs may be fetched from CloudKit public database; this does not contain your personal data.
  • Receipts and logs: subscription records are retained for at least three years or longer if required by tax or consumer law. Crash diagnostics follow Apple retention defaults (often up to 90 days). Support correspondence is kept as long as needed to resolve your request.
  • Deletion: deleting the app removes local data. You can also request deletion of synced data via the contact methods below; cloud data is removed within 30 days unless law requires longer retention.

6. Your rights and choices

  • Access and correction: edit your nickname, reminders, preferences, and content directly in the App.
  • Export or deletion requests: contact us to export or delete your data (local and iCloud, if enabled). We will respond within 15 business days.
  • Withdraw consent: disable notifications, iCloud sync, microphone/voice access, or other permissions in system settings; core features may be limited if permissions are off.
  • Region-specific rights:
    • EU/UK (GDPR): rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
    • California (CCPA/CPRA): rights to know, delete, correct, and non-discrimination. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by CCPA/CPRA.
    • China mainland (PIPL): rights to access, copy, correct, delete, and withdraw consent. Sensitive data (such as moods or journals) is collected only to deliver requested features and remains under your control.

7. Children

Iki is intended for adults and teens aged 9+. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 9. If you believe a child provided data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Security

We rely on Apple's security layers (Data Protection, Keychain, APNs, CloudKit encryption), enforce least-privilege access, and monitor for abuse. No method is perfect, but we work to keep data safe and will notify you and regulators of significant incidents as required.

9. Updates to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as features or laws change. Significant changes will be communicated in-app or via notice before they take effect. Continued use of Iki means you accept the updated policy.

We aim to respond within 5 business days.
