Golingua Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Golingua (the "App") handles information when you use it. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the App.

1. Overview

Golingua is a language-learning app. The App does not include advertising SDKs or tracking SDKs, and we do not sell personal information.

Golingua does not provide AI features or send your text to third-party AI services. Some features store data on your device. If you enable iCloud, some user data may also sync through Apple iCloud/CloudKit.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Data you create in the App

Depending on how you use Golingua, the App may store:

  • Favorites (entry IDs and timestamps)
  • Viewing history (entry IDs and timestamps)
  • Learning progress (quiz correctness counts and last seen time)
  • Notes you write (note text, language code, timestamps)
  • Custom entries you save (your saved content and timestamps)
  • Preferences (language order, theme, text size, reminder settings)
  • Optional display name (stored locally on your device)

2.2 iCloud / CloudKit sync (optional)

If you are signed into iCloud and iCloud sync is available, user data such as Favorites, History, Notes, Custom Entries, and Learning Progress may be stored in your private iCloud database using Apple CloudKit.

Apple may process this data to provide iCloud services. We do not have access to your Apple ID password, and CloudKit data is associated with your Apple account.

2.3 Notifications (optional)

If you enable study reminders, the App schedules local notifications on your device. We do not run a server to send push notifications. Notification payloads may include an internal entry ID so the App can open the related item when you tap the notification.

3. How We Use Information

We use the data described above to:

  • Provide core features (favorites, notes, quiz progress, reminders)
  • Personalize your experience (preferences and display name)
  • Sync your data across your devices when iCloud is enabled

4. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information.

We share information only as needed to provide features:

  • Apple iCloud/CloudKit: for optional cross-device sync.

5. Data Storage, Retention, and Deletion

  • Your data is stored on your device and, if enabled, in iCloud (CloudKit).
  • You can clear certain data from inside the App (for example, clear history or delete iCloud data).
  • Uninstalling the App removes local data. iCloud data may persist until you delete it or disable iCloud sync for the App.

6. Security

We rely on Apple platform security features and CloudKit protections.

7. Children

Golingua is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above indicates the latest revision.
